The 2018 ChinaUniversity Exhibitions and High-level Forum for Presidents was held in from May 12 to 13. About 1700 representatives from 209 Chinese universities, 36 Japanese universities, business communities in various parts of China, and heads of universities and research institutes attended the event.
This is the largest president-level international technology exchange activity between universities in China and Japan.
Xia Mingjiu, deputy administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the forum. He said that this year is the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up, and the 40th anniversary of the China-Japan Peace and Friendship Treaty.
Based on the cooperation between universities in China and Japan, the forum will further promote intellectual exchange between China and Japan in the field of science and technology and education.
A representative from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology expressed his appreciation for the support given by universities and institutions in China and Japan, and said that he hopes that the forum will play a more important role in promoting exchanges between universities, scientific research, human resources, and universities and institutions in the two countries.
The event included exhibitions on Japanese universities and new technology achievements Nearly 90 presidents of Chinese and Japanese universities joined the event, including Guangdong University of Technology, Lanzhou University, Waseda University, Nagoya University, Tsukuba University, and Kobe University; 34 Japanese universities exhibited study projects in Japan, and 46 Japanese institutions demonstrated technological achievements in areas of smart society, nanotechnology, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, disaster prevention and reduction and other fields.
